ABOUT US
"Weaved by Culture. Narrated through Craft.”
Red Thread Garment is the subsidiary of Sari Sedana, which has been producing Bali Batik for over 30 years. Originally initiated to manufacture Batik for one of the world’s leaders in the textile industry, based in the United States.
Adopting skilled workers from both Bali and Java to ensure they produce the highest quality Bali Batik, using only some of the best fabrics and dyes. While exercising the same resources, we add a new vision to focus more on innovation, recycling, and reusability of Batik processes, materials, and techniques. Creating products that complement all occasions—work, casual, and formal.
We are here for people that understand the importance of well-crafted fabrics and garments. A community that embraces Indonesian heritage and, at the same time, appreciates socio-conscious efforts.

OUR VALUE
We are seeing a lot of greenwashing and false marketing claims in the slow fashion and fast fashion apparel industries. Information about the fabrics to the consumer is incomplete or incorrect for the most part, and how advertisements can be misleading. But there are fashion brands that uphold honesty and integrity in how they do their business, and we take pride as one of those brands.
The production of Batik doesn’t use much energy or fossil fuels. The technique is done by hand, and the drying process uses the sun. Unfortunately, it is a large consumer of water, and in the usage of both organic or synthetic dyes, the wastewater still funnels into rivers after production.
At our facility, however, we have a wastewater treatment plant that removes the dye coloration of the water and balances the pH levels. The wastewater is then run through a series of filters and then returned to the river almost 100% purified. To top it off, we use only Remazol® Fiber Reactive Dyes by DyStar — a product range that has been certified according to Oeko-Tex® standards, and is free from harmful chemicals.
We’re all about sustainability, but the final impact comes down to how you use your garments. Treat them well, wash them gently, and make them last.
What is Batik Tjap (Batik Printing)?
Batik is a traditional Indonesian textile art that involves applying wax-resistant patterns to fabric before dyeing, creating intricate and unique designs. There are several methods of producing Batik, and one of the most efficient yet still artisanal techniques is Batik Tjap (Batik Printing).
At Red Thread Garment we utilize Batik Printing. Handcrafted copper stamps used (known as "tjaps") to apply wax patterns onto fabric, allowing for more consistent detailed designs. This method preserves the authenticity of Batik craftsmanship while making it more accessible. The fabric is then dyed, and the wax is removed, revealing the signature Batik motifs. The entire process is done by hand.
