Lyocell fabric is a type of Rayon. Made from plant-based and environmentally-sustainable material, which is Eucalyptus trees. They also don’t require a lot of irrigation and don’t need any pesticides. Making it generally a more eco-friendly choice than synthetic fabrics like polyester. In the case of TENCEL (a trademark name for Lyocell fabric), the wood pulp is sourced from sustainably managed forests, then manufactured by dissolving wood pulp in a solvent. This method is far less toxic than traditional sodium hydroxide solvents. Eliminating the need to use highly toxic chemicals and heavy metals. What is used gets reused in what’s referred to as a “closed-loop process.”

How to care for your Red Thread Lyocell garment
Although dry cleaning is preferable, we know no one has time for that. You can wash our lyocell garment at home. Here is how:
- Hand washed in cold water with a gentle detergent. No need to wring too hard.
- If you use a washing machine, the gentle cycle is appropriate and drip drying is always better than machine drying. But if you must, you can briefly toss it in the dryer with a damp towel to soften the fabric.
- After washing, hang your lyocell items up to dry. Drip dry or flat dry is fine.
- If you want to iron your garment, use the lowest setting.
